Ógras games will be held in Galway this year from the 23 - 25 April. We will be staying in Sleepzone and all the games/activities will be held in Coláiste Mhuire.

The Ógras Art Competition has been in existence for five years. The competition is open to members of Ógras and Óg-Ógras. A club may enter the competition collectively or individual members may submit a work.

The Art Competition and Poetry Competition is open to members of Óg-Ógras and the Debating, Dramatic and Photographic competitions are open to members of Ógras.

Prizes are awarded to those who come in first, second and third place in each of the competitions.

A prize fund of over €6,000 is available this year as well as a trophy and an Ógras T-Shirt or Sweatshirt for each winner.

List of Winners

Rules

  1. In the case of the Art and Poetry competitions, every entry accompanied by the registration form must be received in the Ógras office before Friday 21 December 2007. No entry will be accepted after that date.
  2. Every entry must be written clearly with the name of the entrant, date of birth and name of the club attached to the work (e.g. with a staple).
  3. Every entry must be original and through the medium of Irish.
  4. Presentation of prizes will take place at the Ógrastal (15-17 February 2008) where the winning entries will be on display.
  5. Every entrant must be registered as a member of Ógras.
  6. Photography Competition - Entrants must be over 13 years of age. One original/hard copy should be submitted. The photograph should be at least 5" x 7".
  7. Stage Show - Entrants must be between 13 - 18 years of age on 1st February 2007. The show will be assessed on its music, dance, song, conversation and acting content, should last 20 minutes and be directed from the floor or the stage. There must be at least five participants but not more than twenty in the group.
  8. Debates - There should be three on each team. Three minutes are given to each speaker. The captains are given three minutes to sum up at the end. The topic is given to the teams beforehand.
  9. With regards to POETRY, it is recommended that there be at least four verses in any category.
  10. With regards to ART, it is recommended that the work not be larger than A3.
  11. Only one piece of work may be submitted by each entrant for any one competition (i.e. only one entry may be submitted by an individual in the Art Competition).
  12. The decision of the judges is final.


40 Year Celebration

Ógras, óg-eagraíocht Chonradh na Gaeilge celebrated 40 years running on the 17th November 2009. The celebration took place in the Button Factory, Temple Bar. There was a great turn out on the night and we all really enjoyed ourselves.
