The aim of the project is to get young people from Ireland and Wales communicating with each other and to give the young people a chance to learn about each others culture.
There will be three groups taking part in this project, Club an tSatharn from Co. Down in Northern Ireland, Ógras groups from the Republic of Ireland and Ieuenctid Tysul Youth from Wales.
We will be looking at the cultural differences through dance, sports, music and group work with the young people. We will also be looking at some of the similarities between the groups - language etc. Each group will get the chance to teach their traditional dances and games to the other groups. There will also be workshops, a table quiz and outdoor activities for the young people to participate in.
BENDIGEIDFRAN
Bendigeidfran is the title of a project involving Ógras and URDD, the Welsh language youth organisation. A series of courses and events have taken place between the two organisations. These began in August 2005 and will continue until March 2008.
2-5 November - A series of events, workshops and tours took place during the Scléip na hÓige event at the Oireachtas in Cork. Almost 80 young people attended from both Ógras and URDD.
February -Music and Traditional Dancing of Ireland.
Young people from Ógras and URDD participated in a workshop and work groups with Ronán Ó Snodaigh. The course was held in Ráth Cairn in the Meath Gaeltacht. A big concert with Kila marked a significant part of this course.
February - The Environment and Traditional Customs. This course involved four days of workshops and organised tours in the Déise district of Co. Waterford. Young people from the two organisations came together to learn about the environment and traditional customs of this country.
April - The Irish Language/The Media. This course involved discussion on the Irish language in the life of young people and the influence of the media on the language. The participants of the workshop learned how to record and edit a short video tape. They also had the opportunity to do an interview on Raidió na Gaeltachta. The course was held in Letterkenny during the Pan Celtic Festival and the Oireachtas Easter Festival and the young people also attended some of the festivals' events.
October - Art and the Gaeltacht. This course was held as part of Scléip na hÓige in Westport. The group visited the Delphi Adventure Centre and took part in a number of other events over the three days.
The following courses were held in Wales over the period of the project and Ógras members will be taking part in the final course of the current project in March 2008. We hope to have 25-30 in attendance.
2005 - Welsh Language
2006 - Welsh Media - Welsh Governance
2007 - Welsh Traditions
2008 - Welsh Arts and Culture
As with the courses in Ireland, the Welsh courses involve workshops, trips and various adventures.

Ógras, óg-eagraíocht Chonradh na Gaeilge celebrated 40 years running on the 17th November 2009. The celebration took place in the Button Factory, Temple Bar. There was a great turn out on the night and we all really enjoyed ourselves.
