Ógras Services

The Services provided by Ógras to the Clubs

  1. Ógras has four full time Development Officers employed to provide advice and support for the club leaders
  2. An information pack is provided dealing with the role of the Club leader and on how to put a Work Plan together for the club.  One such pack will be provided to every Ógras leader after they have completed a course with the Development Officer.
  3. We have published a Child Protection Policy along with Comhthraenáil.  Courses will be organised for all the leaders in Ógras to provide them with information on this.
  4. We have also published a Handbook on guidelines for leaders who are working with young people and every leader will receive one as soon as they have completed the Child Protection course with us.
  5. The Development Officers will advise on sources of funding – how to obtain grants from the various bodies like Cumas Teo., Údarás na Gaeltachta, the County Councils, the VECs, Léargas and other groups.
  6. Ógras provides insurance at a very cheap rate - €10 per person for the members of Óg-Ógras and Ógras.
  7. Clubs registered with Ógras receive a great discount on national events like Scléip na hÓige, the Cluichí Tailteann, Summer Camps and Adventure Weekends.
  8. A grant of €130 is available for newly-established clubs who keep the following rules: (a) they have at least 15 members (b) they uphold the rules of Ógras.
  9. Ógras organises courses in leadership, as well as courses in drama and debate for leaders, youth leaders and the members
  10. We organsise the Óige na Gaeilge Competition with a prize fund of €4,000 – providing another opportunity for clubs to receive finance and publicity.
  11. We organises Fun Days for Óg-Ógras, an opportunity to see special places at a low costs and meet with other clubs in the county or province.
  12. Information Pack for every club – Information handbook on organising a club, Membership book, Accounts/Minutes book, Scrapbook for the Óige na Gaeilge Competition, Accident and Event Books.
  13. Information leaflets and multicoloured posters on Ógras are available.
  14. Ógras T-Shirts for €5 each.

Seó Árdáin, Drama Competition

A drama competition 'Seó Árdáin' is being organised in every region and will be taking place in February 2012, for ógras and Óg-Ógras clubs. All clubs should try and take part as there are money and cup prizes to be won.
