Volunteer With Ógras

Volunteers play a vital role in Ógras, supporting young people to connect, grow and enjoy positive experiences through the Irish language. By volunteering with Ógras, you can contribute to your local community while supporting youth development in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

The Role of an Ógras Volunteer

Ógras volunteers support the delivery of youth clubs and activities through Irish. The role involves helping to create a safe welcoming environment where young people feel comfortable participating, expressing themselves and having fun.

Volunteer roles may include supporting club activities, assisting with events, helping with organisation and administration, or taking on leadership roles within clubs.

Board Members

All volunteers are asked to familiarise themselves with the Ógras Volunteer Policy and to agree to a volunteer agreement. These documents outline roles, responsibilities, and expectations, helping to ensure a positive, safe, and respectful experience for everyone involved.

Training And Vetting

Ógras provides training and ongoing support to all volunteers. This includes guidance on youth work practices, safeguarding, communication, and supporting young people through the Irish language.

Volunteers are supported by experienced staff and fellow volunteers, with opportunities to develop new skills and gain valuable experience in youth work and leadership.

Garda Vetting

As Ógras works with young people, Garda Vetting is required for all volunteers. Ógras supports volunteers through the vetting process and provides guidance at each stage. Vetting is completed before a volunteer begins their role with young people.
